There are still honorable and intelligent liberals. The problem is, as the Left becomes loonier and more shameless, they tend to be accused of having moved Right, as in my arguments with Michelle over Chris Matthews. That is what happened to neo- conservatives. Most of them were just anti- communist liberals, but as McGovernism came to dominate the Democratic Party, they came under attack, and the more they questioned the drift, the more they came to be labelled as conservatives. Eventually, realizing that the Great Society was pretty much a failure, most of them became conservatives, but that took awhile...
