NTT DoCoMo mulls listing shares in N.Y.

TOKYO, June 25 (Kyodo) -- NTT Mobile
Communications Network Inc. (NTT DoCoMo) is
considering listing its shares on a New York stock
market, a company official said at a shareholder
meeting Friday.

In response to a question from a shareholder, Masao
Nakamura, chief of the company's treasury division,
said, ''We are currently considering (a share listing in
New York) because there are investors overseas.''

Nakamura did not identify which New York stock
market was targeted or the timing of the listing.

NTT DoCoMo, the mobile phone unit of Japan's
telecom giant Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.,
will likely require a substantial amount of money as it
prepares for the 2001 introduction of the
next-generation mobile phone system, known as the
wideband code division multiple access (CDMA)
service, industry sources said.
