The Internet needs someone to push for new standards and technology. There is no one that can do it better than Microsoft and Bill Gates. Khan, that is absolutely no one worse than Bill Gates for what you envision. What IBM and Xerox gave $Bill is a once in a century event. Do you really think that with people McNeally, Ellison, Case, Su and others, Gates really stand a chance to dominate anything again? MSFT can come up with the greatest standard and no one will adopt it just because of Gates. Don't forget MSFT is a great copier, not innovator, despite of what Bill Gates wants you to belief. It is really doubtful that anything creative will ever come out of the corporate environment in Redmond. QCOM is the monopoly of the future, not MSFT. Ramsey by the way, the "professor" said that Khan's RealNetworks post is right on-target.
