Sat, chit, and ananda. In India, much of the time, the "universal" desires of humans for "the afterlife" are simplified to:
sat = truth (time; immortality, non-transmutability)
chit = being, awareness, existence, occupation of "space", knowledge of all, "merging"
ananda = bliss (loosely) "merging" (it has to be pleasant, complete, pleasurable)
And, not surprisingly, (I love this), that's what they say it's like. Duh. It would be funny if they said, "Two out of three isn't bad" or "Those other guys say there's four things, but they're clear across Rajasthan."
Ah, life.
It's a hoot. I've heard some pretty astounding comments and theories. They're fun, kinda. There are some pretty perceptive and funny people around.
But one of the other things I remember talking with Lather about, that I liked, was another aspect that some schools teach, or posit, is that the existence of "god" cannot, absolutely cannot, be demonstrated. (Proven.) Exhibited. Comprehended. Period. No ifs. Can be "merged with", but not shown.
This is sometimes spoken as "The existence of God cannot be proven, as he has no opposites." It's not real clear, but ya gotta wiggle it. There are some other clever ways, but I forget right now. Hee hee.
Who cares?
And what do we care about?.
Cynicism, even the healthiest, may be, in effect, godly.
People, probably don't know squat, and aren't designed to. It's a little humiliating, embarrassing, demeaning, but..... And still the Indian/Persian teachers insist on the existence of God, and his infinite ocean of life and love. The Jesus type qualities.
I think it's cool, and funny. The absolute seperation of knowledge and being. I like it. And of course, duh, I don't claim it's true. Couldn't; and don't need to.
Pardon me, if ~ I'm not lecturing; I'm just sitting on the porch having fun. Per usual. |
