No harm... it isn't as if companies exactly bend over backward to give one the info one would really like to know. Wouldn't it be interesting, for example, to see a breakdown for PRGS by version and by development versus deployment licenses? Or to see a graph of the revenue by VAR to see how much they were depending on a few large VARs? It isn't as if this information doesn't exist since there have been times in the past when I've seen it... but they sure don't publish it. But then, no one else does either most of the time!
