Jim:

Many major sellers will not post auctions if they are going to be away for a few weeks for a number of reasons:

1. They are generally not available to answer questions via e-mail. Believe it or not, most don't have laptops, and resetting up POP3 information on another computer is a big pain.

2. They are not available to ship the products out that have been purchased via auction. There is nothing that frustrates a buyer more than having to wait several weeks to get their items. The sellers do not want to risk negative or neutral feedback.

I know one of one pottery seller on eBay who won't post for 2 weeks prior to going on vacation for this very reason.

I was away for 5 days back in May, and while I brought a laptop with me, it was still a real pain to deal with the ongoing auctions, and a lot of work when I got back to try to catch up.
