DoubleClick Inc. (DCLK) fell 5 3/4, or 7 percent, to 75
15/16 on concern the Internet advertising company will lose its
largest customer if CMGI Inc. (CMGI) buys Compaq Computer Corp.'s
(CPQ) AltaVista online directory. AltaVista accounts for about 43
percent of DoubleClick's revenue. CMGI, which runs Internet
venture funds, said yesterday it is in talks to buy all or part
of AltaVista. That concerns some investors since CMGI could use
its majority-owned units and DoubleClick rivals ADSmart Corp. and
Engage Technologies Inc. for AltaVista instead of DoubleClick.
CMGI fell 2 1/4, or 2.3 percent, to 94 1/4.
