Since I'm located in Geneva, Switzerland, and am currently on assignment in Hong Kong, I have no opportunity to join the chat on AOL (not a subscriber). It would be truly wonderful if someone like yourself could make a strategic assessment of the risks associated with the business this company is involved in>
Specifically, I worry about the following things:
1) Competition: who could come in and take away their market
2) Barriers to entry: is it easy for someone else to enter this market with the equivalent or superior technology to 'market make' the 7000+ stocks.
3) Extended markets available to NITE: are there opportunities for NITE, in terms of markets it could enter, that it isn't present in today. For example, could it conceivably get into stock trading itself?
4) What are the risks of something going 'wrong' big-time with their market making business: in other words, what if their computer system fowls and either shuts down (like Ebay) or worse, makes major execution errors resulting in massive losses for NITE. Is that possible or is the very idea ridiculous...
Let's spend time to get to the bottom of these issues, as there's too much bullishness around here, as well as on Yahoo Chat as to NITE's prospects...this could be our last opportunity to kick tyres, as if everything looks sound, I'd like to bet quite a bit of my centimes on this stock...
Good luck again...can't wait for Wed., July 21st, 4.30pm (I'm assuming earnings are released after the close of business). |
