And here I am.....trying to get the smell of burnt chestnuts out of my hair. Does anyone know why they burn chestnuts at the corner food stands in the summer??? NYC is pretty amazing. I walked from 5th ave and 36th to 48th and found a street that is all jewelry stores. It was amazing...I guess it was the jewelry district. Sort of like the garment district. This street is straight out of the 20's. Doesn't look like anything has been modernized. Just shop after shop of old old jewelry stores. Looked like a movie set. Ton's of (SP?)Hesidic Jews. It was fun but trying to walk down 5th ave at 6 pm is like roller derby. You have to elbow your way down the street and walk over cars. Good to be home.
