Meathead-- Dell tops list of "consider for purchase" of notebooks, with 60%

This midweek issue of informationweek has articles based on the PC Expo, where
one of the themes was the increase in mobile computing.

Excerpts from the article "The New Mobile Infrastructure"

* Notebook computer use to grow from about 17million units in 1999 to about
28million in 2003-- approximately 65% growth.

* Intel believes employee productivity soars with increased mobility, because
employees have their data with them during the day. As a result, "the pattern of
work behavior is more effective with a notebook. Enabling people to have their data
with them during the day is extremely valuable."

* Ownership costs for notebooks have dropped over 50% since 1995.

* Mastercard is gradually replacing all its approximately 2000 notebooks with dells.
