To a certain extent I agree with you.

But remember AMD is supplying the chipsets as part of the $250 number.

I wish AMD would sub out the MB's just like Intel and brand them as AMD MB's. Their raw cost to AMD would be << $100.

They can then package the CPU/MB in the $500-800 range.

But no they won't do it because they are too scared to PO the MB and chipset guys.

In fact I would prefer if the white box and tier 2/3 guys could buy AMD direct and bypass the disti's.

Intel is doing this already and thats why they have a major cost advantage in the low end.

I am not impressed by the business acumen of the AMD folks frankly.
