If we do not have income taxes, then we will have to tax our citizens in other ways in order to support government services. It is true that there are some countries that live off international tax fraud, oil wells, or gambling, but they are the exception rather than the rule. There are also places where there is no income tax, but there are huge value added taxes on goods and services. So whether you want to call it an income tax or not, revenues do need to be raised in civilized societies.
