early returns of census

Last evening I attended a performance of Les Miserables (not as 24601 but as a member of the audience). Before I left for the theater I placed a "Wavoid census" post on the main WAVX board at Raging Bull. When I returned I placed like posts on the WAVXOT board at Raging Bull and on the (main) WAVX boards at Silicon Investor, Motley Fool, and (dare I say it?) Yahoo.

Last night's returns reflect 21 respondents, of whom 7 prefer Raging Bull over Motley Fool, 9 prefer Motley Fool over Raging Bull, and 5 express no preference.

The point of the count is to find out how many readers of the WAVX message boards are seriously interested in Wave. As a measure of serious interest it uses WaveAccounts. If the number of serious Wavoids who would not establish a WaveAccount is as small as I think it is --- and if a nickel is as nominal an amount as I think it is --- then this method should produce reliable results.

If you go to members.theglobe.com you can tap your WaveAccount for a nickel to be counted as seriously interested in Wave and to indicate (if you wish) a preference between the two most prominent of the free message boards: Motley Fool and Raging Bull. Each of the three alternate .SMOs will cost a nickel. Your choice among them will indicate either a preference for the Motley Fool Board, or a preference for the Raging Bull board, or no preference between those two.

Personal information will be treated as confidential. Numbers of responses and expressions of preference will be published only as aggregates.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Best wishes,
John Sullivan
