Soros-Chatterjee group interested in govt stake in IPCL

Soros-Chatterjee group based in New York is interested in picking up 25% government stake in IPCL (http://www.ipcl.co.in/). The Government of India which holds 59.5% stake in IPCL has decided to divest 25% stake in the company. Sabic of Middle East, Chevron and Exxon of the US and Reliance Industries (http://www.ril.com/) have also shown interest in IPCL's divestment. The Soros-Chatterjee group is keen on petrochemical ventures in India. The group has a 40% equity stake in Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (http://www.haldiapetrochemicals.com/).
