Les,

I read that issue. The old covert action people don't
hold the edge they used to but I sure would like to know
the true story behind the targeting of the Chinese
Embassy. Its a tough, new world without the Cold War.
Clinton once remarked to George Stephanopolis "I miss the
Cold War". He was not kidding. It was so easy to filter
international relations through the focus of the Cold War.
These days it is not so easy to tell who your friends are.
The same thing has happened to the editors of covert action.
Without the filter of the US/Soviet struggle for world
domination, it is tough to write a critical journal of
covert operations.

I have actually read better stuff recently in "Jane's
Defense Weekly" and "Foreign Affairs" because now people
have this funny habit of telling the truth rather than
having to balance the politics of the Cold War in their
editorials.

Later,

-John
