Term limits sounds good on its face. However, there are two things that niggle at me: 1. To limit terms is unconstitutional. 2. We would lose a lot of good people unnecessarily. Imagine if Henry Hyde had been term-limited out. As it is, we're losing Tom Coburn and Helen Chenowith. It seems a shame. Maybe we could limit terms on chairmanships and do something about franking privileges and other perks of incumbency.

Your guy shouldn't have reneged, though. If he pledged to do that, I don't see how he looks his people in the eye anymore.
