[Why AMTX/MCI modems next week..?]

Mark,

<<On the minus: the MCI press release doesn't mention AMTX; the NEC press
release doesn't mention AMTX(!); the AMTX press release doesn't even have a
(good) quote from a senior NEC person; it seems the USA TODAY article
bypasses AMTX completely; TeleChoice buries the AMTX release dead last (after
"Motorola participating in Cable telephony Trials With MCI"... oh boy!); and the
AMTX release hasn't hit the wires yet.>>

There is a GREAT deal of negotiating a major PR anouncement. The MCI
folks played this one like a violin. I don't believe AMTX is lost
in the shuffle...they may have an agreement with NEC or "others" not
to overshadow companies they have liscensed their technology. Maybe
that's why they are announcing AMATI modem participation next week.

Frankly, I was surprised with a 7MB CAP modem from Performance..where
did they come from? Any relationship with Amati?

Bob
