It recalls some of the other factors which were at play at the time of Divestiture One. In retrospect, and with the aid of this article, I now recall more vividly that there was, in fact, another kind of convergence on the horizon at that time. That being, between computers and telecommunications, when T wanted to enter into the computer business.
The Internet hadn't even shown up yet on anyone's serious screen yet, as the 'net was still fiddling with 2.4 kb/s lines between university and research hubs. Whew! I'm getting old...
