We will all be able to get the entertainment vehicle (the TV) as an true interactive tool with the help of ACTV (Nasd: IATV) through the set top boxes from General Instr. & SFI. With the patented processes that ACTV owns, TCI & AT&T, along with Liberty Media are putting together true Digital Convergence for your TV, where you will be able to change the view or camera angle while watching a sporting event, pull up facts or stats about an athlete on whatever team you happen to be watching, as well as surfing the web and buying things online. The first public premiere and trial run begins in July in Texas. You will be hearing more about it later in the late summer or early fall. Since this process will also enable the subscriber to bundle the internet, cable tv, and most likely phone service. The interactivity will enable you to purchase things like your are able to do now with your computer. They call it HyperTv.

I'm sure that there are others out there now who have a TV on while you are working on your computer. Well this would put it all together. I know you are thinking WebTv, but this is digital. The internet subscribers will also increase since there are more people with cable for their tv's and the additional cost should be minimal (except maybe a ISP charge?). The TV still rules in the US, and this will enable them (without the additional expense of a computer) to get online and therefore increase e-sales. Although I have not read anything specific from Charter Comm concerning this, I am sure that PA has his sights on that large $$$$$ cow.

For further info, you might check out their web site @ actv.com.

Long #39. Would love to make the Hawaii trip, but I will be in the tropical Bering Sea (Alaska)in January & February. Trust me, my thoughts will be with you all in Hawaii. Aloha! Joe.
