So let me get this straight... Qwest is going to buy USWest, and then it's going to quit selling long-distance service in 14 of the 50 states. While these 14 states make up only 1% of the proposed combined company, what percentage of current Qwest projections (without USW) would come from these 14 states? In essence, Qwest would become a low-tech baby bell with a nice national fiber network.

Or am I missing something?
