Many deeply religious people are fervent believers in the separation of church and state; there is no contradiction between praying publicly and opposing the intrusion of religion into publicly funded activities. Of course that is true, but I think that we have taken aim at too many innocuous practices, such as non- sectarian benedictions at commencement. If I thought that Robertson was in it for theocracy, perhaps I would be as riled up as others, but I do not. I think that many of the positions of social conservatives are justifiable without reference to faith. As to the sleeping, I had a nap, and have gotten a little overstimulated thinking about my have fast- approaching trip to New York, and checking on my threads. How is Manila? (Actually, I am not sure that you have ever mentioned the precise city, so I am guessing)....
