Well, that's what I wonder (whether it's short selling). It seems to me the effect of short selling, while short-term negative, has the long term benefit to those of us who remain long that short sales now are converted to demand later if the stock starts to rise (Whew, sorry about that convoluted sentence -- hope you can parse it). OTOH, sellers closing out long positions might never be back as buyers.
