Telos Uses Verity to Build Advanced Messaging System for Federal Government Agencies
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 1999--
Automated System for e-Message Management Provides Intelligent
Search and Routing and First Retrospective Search Capabilities
Verity, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRTY), a leading provider of knowledge retrieval solutions for the enterprise and Internet, today announced that Telos Corporation has integrated Verity's powerful knowledge retrieval solution into its comprehensive Automated Message Handling System (AMHS).
The Telos AMHS not only provides contextual e-mail routing and archiving, it is also the first solution to offer retrospective searching through every mailbox simultaneously. The system uses Web or graphical interfaces for access and management.
For enterprises that receive thousands of organizational messages (including the Department of Defense's AUTODIN and DMS traffic), Internet e-mails and news feeds each day, the Telos AMHS with Verity technology can save significant time and effort. The system is currently in use in organizations including the Joint Chiefs of Staff, The National Military Command Center (NMCC) and the U.S. European Command (EUCOM).
The growing popularity of e-mail has made communicating with government and civilian agencies easier for the public, but sometimes more difficult for those agencies that now receive thousands of messages into general accounts with addresses such as info@agencyname.gov or OfficerOfTheDay@department.mil. Traditionally, an analyst or administrator would sort through and disseminate these messages. Now, however, organizations can use the advanced capabilities of the Telos AMHS to automatically forward these messages to the responsible individuals.
"Messaging is critical to e-business, affecting everything from asset management to supply-chain issues to financial analysis. As people rely more on the Web, intranets, and extranets for commerce, they lean more on e-mail and news feeds for urgent information that supports their decision-making," said Ralph Buona, vice president of Product Management at Telos. "Verity's technology helps us deliver an effective e-Solution -- a solution that supports doing business via the Internet."
According to Ronald Weissman, vice president, Strategy, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing at Verity, Inc., "Today's automated messaging handling systems are key to the effective operation of federal agencies. By developing the next generation message handling system with Verity's core knowledge retrieval technology, Telos, a recognized leader in advanced messaging systems, is providing organizations with a simple, universal method of accessing mission-critical information, whether it is stored in an inbox or an archive."
