Dear Unclewest, I appreciate all your information based upon your research about RAMBUS. I have been reading it for some time. I would like to share my personal information with you for the first time. About 3 weeks ago I had the opportunity to see and hear Geoff Tate and Gary Harmon speak for the first time. They were extremely confident about the superiority of RAMBUS over any other proposed alternatives including all those previously mentioned in the thread. They said that INTEL came to them a few years ago and asked them to design this product, specifically with a large amount of "headroom" for future expansion. They said that RAMBUS has this potential that INTEL wanted for future use. They know of no other competition on the horizon that can compete with them for speed or quality of signal. Mr. Harmon stated that their business model is unique in the semiconductor industry and that they wanted it to show a profit early on to prove this model. It has done so. He stated that the bulk of their current revenues are from engineering now but that soon it will be mostly from royalties. He stated that he expects the net profits to be in the "Hundreds of Millions" soon because they will have a very high gross profit margin. They were very proud of this model and their future. Later at a more personal meeting, I had the chance to speak in person to both of them. They reiterated that they have over 50 patents and over 70 patents applied for. They have many design wins both now and in the future. From their conversation, I was surprised to find out how many applications RAMBUS has other than the obvious. I am very confident in the long term future of RAMBUS and I sleep very well at night with a large investment in this company. I am not concerned about the daily or weekly fluctuations. They are good buying opportunities. There was of course much more but this is all I wish to share at this time since I don't have my notes from this meeting with me now.
