PEM and phosphoric acid have efficiencies in the 30-40% range, depending on how much energy is wasted because of the reformer. Keep in mind that CO is a poison to the lower temp fc's, and must be removed from the hydrogen stream, especially for PEM cells.

The higher temp fuel cells (carbonate and solid oxide) don't need a reformer, and have similar efficiencies in the 50-60% range. Also, because their waste heat is at a much higher temperature, it is more valuable for cogeneration than the low quality heat from the low temp fc's.
