If you believe that and intend to pursue your goal ACCORDING to the method prescribed for changing this country under the US Constitution and you do this BECAUSE you think these changes are for the betterment of the country you love then of course you are a patriot. And I would be a patriot to oppose such a person since I would believe such a person would be making the country worse. So in the end (IMO) being a patriot is meaningless. Unless you hate this country, and wish to see it get worse (however one defines worse) then one is a patriot. There are much better things to be than a patriot.
