Stac Software and Tivoli Systems Announce Multi-year Technology License Agreement

Stac's Replica Technology Integrated With Tivoli Storage Management
SAN DIEGO, June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Stac Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: STAC), the leader in recovery solutions for remote Windows networks, today announced a broad technology license agreement with Tivoli Systems, the world's leader in IT management solutions. Tivoli will incorporate Replica(R) technology in its new Tivoli Data Protection for Workgroups (see the separate release "Tivoli Systems Expands Information Integrity Initiative with Release of Comprehensive Data Protection and Recovery Solution for NT") as well as in future versions of Tivoli Storage Management (formerly IBM ADSM). Stac will also provide custom development under the agreement.

In a separate announcement, Tivoli announced its new data protection and recovery solution for NT, Tivoli Data Protection for Workgroups. This new product is part of Tivoli's recently announced Information Integrity Initiative(TM) which provides technology to allow organizations to link key business practices with storage management policies. Tivoli Data Protection for Workgroups is a comprehensive, standalone solution for small and medium businesses, as well as decentralized departments that are part of large enterprises and require 24x7 data security, but are often without support from an IT department.
Using Replica technology, Tivoli Data Protection for Workgroups provides remote data and disaster recovery so automated that non-technical employees can completely recover crashed systems. Replica features Stac's unique bare-metal disaster recovery capability, allowing users to recover a full system quickly and completely without having to manually rebuild disk partitions or separately install the operating system.
