They never bought back more than the 10 million they announced in Q4. Any short covering that took place because of that buy back was completed by Jan 1, 1999.

I believe almost all the short position was normal shorting and frankly I had mentioned on several occasions in the past, that I don't understand why anyone who bought the notes would necessarily short the stock. And if they did, they certainly would have covered long before the stock moved from the 5 level to the 12-14 level.

Remember, MRVC has about 155 million in short term investments and sales are still moving up as Noam fights to compete. Their notes will be paid back at maturity unless as I hope, they will be converted to a high priced stock.
