Worldwide Fiber Appoints Vice President and Chief Technology Officer VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 1999--Worldwide Fiber Inc. (WFI), today announced the appointment of Steve Baker to the position of Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. In assuming the lead technical post, Mr. Baker will oversee WFI's technical strategic plans for entering the Carrier's Carrier wholesale marketplace.
Mr. Bakers extensive knowledge of ATM, SONET, Frame Relay, SNA, DWDM and Leased Wavelengths coupled with his experience with hardware technologies from major vendors will be instrumental in facilitating the applications and design techniques across WFI's Network.
Mr. Baker's telecommunications career spans nearly three decades where he has served in various key executive positions. His expertise encompasses areas of network planning, engineering, operations, provisioning, information systems, product development and process management. Prior to his appointment with WFI, he was most recently Vice President of Strategic Technology Planning for Sprint Canada. In 1988, Mr. Baker founded Integrated Network Services Inc. (INSINC), a company specialized in frame relay technologies and served as the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
