Scott: <Intel has had 10 stock splits>. Value Line shows intel has 3 stock splits in the last 10 years. Historical prices (adjusted for all splits) are shown as:
year low,high
1986 2.7,5.4
1991 9.4,14.8

Using an average price in each of the years, and a current price of 135 gives:
1) purchase $10,000 10 years ago @ $4 gives 2,500 shares worth @ 135 $337,500
2) purchase $10,000 5 years ago @ 12 gives 833 shares worth @135 112,499.

Impressive numbers.
