You are referring to a small, dogmatic sect that is as irrational as you. They are misguided fools looking for a 20th Century Christ figure and have settled on Rand, although they cannot intellectually grasp the true revolution of her philosophy, epistemology or ontological thought. They are known as "Randians".
Objectivism, however, as a school of philosophical thought has many proponents. Among them are men such as Milton Friedman -- free market economist and Nobel Prize winner. The late Ludwig von Mises, perhaps one of the world's greatest capitalist economists, Nathaniel Branden, who founded a whole new school of psychology based on her philosophical tenets, and many others including educators, business men and women, and even a few politicians!
Miss Rand was an intellectual giant and as a champion of rationality and the morality of human life, on a par with her spiritual mentor, Aristotle.
