A few nitpicks here. Not every Profusion chipset will have eight Xeons running right out of the box. A lot will start with four and leave four CPU slots empty for future expansion.

Also, the volumes on the Profusion platform will probably be even lower than that of 4-way 450NX or Carmel platforms. My guess is that 4-way systems are the current sweet spot for Intel-based servers and workstations, also known as "Standard High Volume" or SHV.

Profusion's job, in my opinion, is to drive the 8-way SHV server platform for the long-term future. It's not necessarily supposed to be a short-term cash-cow for Intel.
