Spoke w/ Randy Sanders of APEP:
Videos, Games, etc. are downloaded (2 hr. movie = approx. 7 min) from a central computer thru cable lines into the set-top box (STB) and then can be viewed any time in the future, however once the media has been started there is a 48 hour window before it is erased from STB. (media can be viewed multiple times, rewind/fast-forward, etc. within the 48 hrs.)
Only drawback at this point is the cost of the STB, currently around $450, however there will be incentives involving rental agreements, etc. (similar to cellular phones).
(not sure about renting STB - forgot to ask)
Beta testing is scheduled for Sept/Oct in Phoenix, AZ thru a "medium-sized" Cable Co. and should take 60-90 days to complete after which they will try and market on a larger scale to other cable distributors all over.
Movie rentals will be comparable to those currently offered at video stores. The catch is the convenience factor coupled with no late fees.
2,000 titles (hopefully unlimited in the future) with older titles renting for as little as $1.50)
Currently have 1 M in funding with another 4 M on the way.

could someone please post to SI (This was posted on Raging Bull)
