The logic is as impeccable as the assumptions on which it rests. Empirical verification is the test of those assumptions.

If the matter is returned to the states, we will see some interesting migration patterns emerging. Very convenient for the middle-class families who can afford to slip their errant daughters across a border, a bit less so for the poor. Which means that in the stricter states, abortions will be more accessible to the members of the privileged class who use it as post facto birth control, less so to those who have the strongest argument for need. Good principle, but in practice, is this what we want?

It needn't, but does it? Either way, the result is more government interference in private lives, a questionable goal.
