that's not what I am referring to. When you compound money, you also compound tax. As the pile gets bigger, the tax gets bigger. Then you must allow for lost opportunity cost on the tax payments. Then you also must consider various tax environments you enter as your assets grow. Get yourself a copy of Tax Fact for Investments.

And don't be so sure about what anybody may have had in comparison to you at your age. If your wrong, you look stupid.
