Mahesh, thanks for that reply. Before I get into the details, let me say that now I know where the confusion is coming from re switch versus DCS. In the following statement that you make, are you referring to an end office or tandem switch, such as, for example, a DMS 100, or DMS 2xx, respectively?

I think that this is what you mean, although I don't necessarily agree with the notion that every CO switch has at least one associated DCS. Some switches make use of their integral time slot interchange capabilities instead of deferring to external DCSs, when conditions permit.
I think that you need to qualify this further, if you are going to draw relationships between CO switching platforms and associated digital cross connects, or devise some other calculus to arrive at the numbers. JMO.
