BOLIVAR WELCOMES NEW DIRECTOR

TORONTO, June 28/CNW-PRN/ - Bolivar Goldfields is pleased to welcome Ian R. Ward, P.Eng. to its board of directors. Mr. Ward, who was elected to the board at the annual general meeting of shareholders held on June 17, 1999, is the Principal Metallurgist at Micon International Limited, a group of well-known mineral industry consultants. At Micon, Mr. Ward has consulted extensively on various mining operations throughout Canada, U.S.A., Latin America, Spain, Tunisia and Russia and has broad experience monitoring projects on behalf of major financial institutions. Mr. Ward has worked at Micon since April, 1996; prior to that date he worked at Kilborn SNC Lavalin where he was the Manager of Metallurgy. During his tenure at Kilborn, Mr. Ward wrote and co-wrote several technical papers on engineering of mining projects. He holds a B.Sc. in Minerals Engineering from the University of Birmingham, U.K. and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

Mr. Ward brings a wealth of mining experience and knowledge to the Board and the Company is pleased to welcome him as a valued member of its board.

Bolivar is a Canadian gold mining and exploration company whose main property holdings are located in Bolivar State, Venezuela, including a producing gold mine, Tomi, which is located in the historical gold district of El Callao. Tomi commenced production in June, 1998, with the acquisition of the Revemin plant and has produced to date a total of 40,000 ounces. Cash cost for 1999 are expected to be US$118/oz.
