Uhhh ... That's a tough one. A lot can happen between now and Merced's release. One thing that will be Merced's strong point will be floating point. I don't know how well it will hold up to the RISC competition, but at least Merced will be Intel's first processor that improves upon the not-so-stellar floating point of Xeon. (Next will be Willamette, I guess.)

But if you asked the marketing folks at Intel, they'll be programmed to say that Merced's strongest segment will be the Internet. ;-)

Heh, like anything is guaranteed regarding IA-64.
