Gains made on one-time events are not, and are NOT considered, part of the ongoing OPERATIONS of the company.

They are reported as a separate item.

Did you see a $100,000,000 GAIN when AMD SOLD THEIR HEADQUARTERS in Q498?

The HALF BILLION DOLLAR LOSS will be for AMD's ongoing operations.

PS - WHat business will AMD sell next to help offset the MONEY HEMORRHAGING ?

Maybe they will sellout their interest in FASL to Fujitsu.

After all, AMD doesn't want to be saddled with an operation that occasionally MAKES money !
