O.K.I do not know if anyone else is still reading this... BUT...It is the usual a buch of clueless people who know nothing about technology(this includes the entire company called Microsoft) just shooting thier mouths of..! Will NT gain marker share..? Yes is it because it is a good product and can really deliver(anything)? NO..it is only gaining market share because it is a Microsoft product and Microsoft by owning the dekstops now just uses that momentum to sell this peace of crap to the public very much like they did with windows 3.xx.. NT's file systems is a Juke.. The Sceduler is even a worse joke.. The kernel and its multi threading is an insult.. NT is much earsier to hack than UNIX..Microsoft claims C2 security with NT in a non networked form..(go figure) It is unstable as hell..(my freeking NT 4.0 crashes once a day with nescape..I can also crash it anytime I want) IT is not "OPEN"..to those people who would like to play with words... OPEN means you can modify the source of the operating system and own it ...NOT WITH MICROSOFT..(this is for hardware vendors..not you) NT on anything but Intel is a myth.Microsft does not allow you to change the kernel or the source code to make it ryn better on specific hardware designs other than INTEL.. and for those people who think UNIX is not secure..entire NORAD..Navy logistics and communications along with Air force, CIA, national security has been runing on UNIX for quite a few years..! bottom line to people out there talking high on NT..Don't make stupid balnket stataments on things you know nothing about...your lack of any knowledge on operating systems is a key factor in Micrsoft gain marker share..along with all the other stuff Microsoft tactics.. SO if you wanna defend NT and Microsoft just do it ..don't try to justify it for technical reasons and enjoy it while it lasts..
