NTT DoCoMo Executives Speak to Shareholders: Company Comments
Tokyo, June 25 (Bloomberg) - NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc.
executives made the following comments at the first shareholders meeting of the
world's largest cellular phone company since its shares started trading on Oct.
22.

NTT DoCoMo said 609 of its 67,647 shareholders attended the meeting. Nippon
Telegraph & Telephone Corp., the world's largest phone company, owns 67.1
percent of NTT DoCoMo. The meeting lasted an hour and a half.

On its plan to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange:

''We are planning to list our shares on the New York Stock Exchange. We are
working on it. We haven't decided when to list our shares,'' said Executive Vice
President Masao Nakamura. ''We are also hoping to list our shares in Europe.''

On a recent decline in its share of new subscriptions:

The recent decline is the ''largest problem'' NTT DoCoMo is facing, said
Executive Vice President Shiro Tsuda. ''We have to tackle this problem
immediately.''

On a recent decline in NTT DoCoMo's share of new cellular phone
subscriptions because of cdmaOne, an advanced cellular phone standard
introduced by DDI Corp. and IDO Corp.:

''We understand the number of cdmaOne subscribers is growing, while NTT
DoCoMo's market share (of new subscriptions) fell in April and May,'' said
Hideki Nomura, an executive vice president. ''But we see this as just a
temporary decline, and over the long term, our market share won't be affected.
When someone introduces something new, market shares often tend to change.''

To compete with cdmaOne, Nomura said, ''DoCoMo is expanding its area of
coverage. We cut the monthly basic fees this month. We will introduce more
discounts next month. E-mail usage from DoCoMo phones is growing thanks to
i-mode service. DoCoMo also introduced Doccimo, which has cellular and PHS
capabilities.''

On the sound quality of DoCoMo's cellular phones, which analysts say is not as
good as some competitors':

''We believe there is no problem with DoCoMo sound quality,'' said Senior Vice
President Hideki Ishikawa. ''And we will always make efforts to improve sound
quality.''
