Mr. K: I have found eBay to be unstable off and on the past few days. Besides being unable to get anything on the 'Search' page, I'm finding that eBay autogenerated EOA responses are w-a-y behind. I'm not sure if these are related problems, but whatever major problems eBay had about a week ago don't seem to have been completely fixed.

I discovered a case of false feedback last week and reported it to SafeHarbor. It was for a seller, a new one, who only has one feedback. Since there was no auction number cited, I checked and the person leaving the feedback had not even bid on any of the 5 total auctions the seller has listed since joining eBay. The seller has not even listed the particular item noted in the feedback and the person leaving feedback has a bidding history of going for beanie babies and similar things, **not** electronics. Basically, through some digging, the buyer is a new alias for the person who left the feedback.
I received a reply from SafeHarbor yesterday. One phoney feedback isn't enough. They told me to keep an eye on these "people" (my quotes, since its the same person) and let them know if infractions increased.
Well, I was somewhat surprised by their response. What I think eBay should have done is warn this person, let her know her phoney feedback for herself has been spotted. This would have sent a message: play fair, you can't get away with things as easily as you think. By eBay remaining silent, people like the one I spotted, who might go streight if sent a note by eBay, have no reason to stop abusing the system.
