First off, please accept that I have the utmost respect and gratitude for the sacrifices veterans made/make for our country. All veterans should be lavished with benefits by a grateful nation. My wife is a veteran but I am not.

If I viewed someone burning a flag ( I have never actually seen anyone do it BTW ) I would not take it personally but come to the conclusion that the burner was a moron who's views need not be taken seriously. I understand that you would take it personally and that's the part I honestly don't get.

Would you take it as a personal insult if someone burned a picture of the Whitehouse? How about a picture of George Washington? Should a flag burning amendment be expanded to cover all national symbols? I don't think so.

I fear by ammending the Constitution for this symbolic purpose, you ironically cheapen the thing the flag symbolizes.
