I don't know where was gold at the exact time they drilled.. But why should they assay if they were not looking for gold and didn't think gold was there. Maybe the prices was still below $300 when they assayed... I don't know.

BTW, before the 1990's it was very common to bypass gold assays in VMS. I was studying Eurozinc this past week-end. They have several deposits in the Iberian Pyrite Belt. In 1990 the previous owners had never assay the Aljustrel deposit for gold, still they got a feasibility and built a $200 million plant. Now, in 1999, and for the first time they are assaying for gold and finding 1-2 g/t gold.

BTW2, Eurozinc is more than 50% in Pyrite.
