cStar Technologies Inc. Selects Eicon Technology's Eicon
Cards to Provide WAN Connectivity for its DirectGate(TM)
and ThruGate(TM) Communications Servers

JUNE 29, 1999
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA--Eicon Technology, a worldwide provider
of remote access products for personal computers, announces an
agreement with cStar Technologies Inc., a cutting-edge
communications solutions provider. cStar specializes in providing
networking solutions and interconnectivity engines for a wide
variety of wireline and wireless LANs, MANs, and WANs. Under the
terms of this agreement, cStar will integrate Eicon's wide area
networking (WAN) interface cards with the company's DirectGate(TM)
and ThruGate(TM) communications servers to provide wireless to
wireline connections for remote corporate networks. cStar will
distribute these products in all the major communications markets, worldwide.
"Both our DirectGate(TM) and ThruGate(TM) communications servers
utilize X.25, ISDN and Frame Relay," said Srdjan Milutinovic, Vice
President of Systems Development at cStar Technologies Inc.
"After extensive testing with other competitive products, we chose
Eicon's products based on the superior testing results they
yielded. Eicon's Remote Access Cards will provide the required
protocol interfaces to our server products in addition to a broad
spectrum of services for our WAN connectivity solutions."
cStar's products are artificial intelligence based communications
servers and bridges capable of automatically detecting and
seamlessly converting communications protocols between clients,
servers and hosts running with entirely different protocols, on
entirely different networks. cStar's flagship product,
ThruGate(TM), facilitates the development of client-server
applications where the client and the server reside on
incompatible networks. cStar's SkyGate(TM) and DirectGate(TM) are
used for applications that require connectivity to wireless
devices running in remote or inaccessible areas. These devices
can now be easily connected with a host server using the local
cellular and packet data networks. Both DirectGate(TM) and
ThruGate(TM) Servers provide full routing, bridging, switching and
protocol conversion capabilities.
cStar will now integrate Eicon's C20, C21, S90, S50 and S94 wide
area networking interface cards for PC-based connectivity within
its DirectGate(TM) and ThruGate(TM) servers. Eicon's C20 card is
a low-speed intelligent ISA Plug-and-Play (PnP) multi-protocol
interface card that offers WAN connectivity for stand-alone or
small branch offices through a V.24 port at speeds of up to 64
kbps. The S-class EiconCards are high-speed-up to 2Mbps (T1/E1)-
intelligent WAN interface cards, mainly used with branch office
LAN application servers. These cards are intended for Frame Relay
or X.25 applications supporting a large number of concurrent
users. The S50 (ISA), S90 (PCI) and S94 (PCI - high performance)
are intelligent multi-protocol interface cards for branch office
WAN access requirements featuring High-Speed (HIS) and Very
High-Speed Interface (VHSI) ports, supporting speeds of up to 2 Mbps (T1/E1).
