It could just be a technical breakout, frankly I think it's long over due, basically once it looked like the stock wouldn't trade much below 90, it becomes new support as the hesitant buy in.

Usually though, there is some fundamental "news" unknown that triggers these events, this is where charting is a very useful tool, imo. The news appears in the chart before it hits the wires.
