New Kits Help Enable Developers To Create Applications And Solutions For Businesses And Consumers
Motorola today announced the availability of its Software Developers' Kit (SDK), version 1.2, for its PageWriter(R)2000 two-way pager, PageWriter(R) 2000X two-way wireless communications center and its Integrators' Kit for the CreataLink(TM) 2 XT two-way data transceiver. These latest kits, developed by Motorola, can enable developers to create and develop new, cutting-edge software applications for these two-way devices. "Our smart two-way products, which include the PageWriter 2000 two-way pager, PageWriter 2000X two-way wireless communications center and the CreataLink2 XT two-way data transceiver, offer businesses and consumers real, wireless end-to-end solutions -- and, it's the software applications that make these solutions possible," explained Karen Hendricks, Director, Software Enablers and Applications PNG, Smart and Connected Products, Motorola. "Motorola's SDK 1.2 and Integrators' Kit reinforce our commitment to our developers -- giving them the tools to create true, interactive solutions to meet the diverse wants of business and consumer users."
The Software Developer Solution
Using the SDK 1.2, developers can create new wireless solutions for Motorola's PageWriter 2000 two-way pager and its PageWriter 2000X two-way wireless communication center. These handheld two-way devices are designed to help enable users to communicate wirelessly with one-and two-way pagers, Internet email addresses, fax machines and telephones using a built-in miniature QWERTY keyboard. With the SDK 1.2, both the PageWriter 2000 two-way pager and PageWriter 2000X two-way wireless communications center can be uniquely customized to fit the needs of individual lifestyles and perform a broad range of wireless business applications. With this latest SDK, developers can create new applications for the PC, then can transfer data to and from these devices over their IR ports, as well as applications which populate databases. Other key features of the new SDK 1.2 include: enhancements to Motorola's FLEX(a) Script language, which has been extended for easier programming; new and improved Application Protocol Interfaces (APIs), to help provide easy access to additional functionality; support for Motorola's FLEX(TM) Operating System 2.0; and improved training material and exercises, to help make learning the FLEX Script language quick and easy. Taking advantage of the power of the Internet, both devices can be used to access enterprise servers for email, news and information updates(a); field order dispatches; medical information-gathering(a), monitoring and consulting(a); and stock tracking(a).
The Integrator Solution
The CreataLink2 XT two-way data transceiver, a control and monitoring module solution, helps provide a wireless link between people and machines, as well as machine to machine. It helps enable users to carry out two-way communication to remote locations through the existing ReFLEX(TM) two-way paging network. It can initiate message transmissions as well as decode, store and forward messages to an interconnected host device. By utilizing the new Integrators' Kit for the CreataLink2 XT two-way data transceiver, developers have the tools to design cost-efficient wireless communications solutions for various industry applications. These could include automated meter reading for the utility market; enterprise solutions, such as remote network reset; cut-line detection for security systems; remote sensory notification; and non-life threatening medical applications such as remote glucose meter reading. "The ability to send, receive and transmit information wirelessly is becoming increasingly important to our customers. Using advanced two-way messaging devices and our new developers' kits, there's no telling where the 'world of wireless' will take us," concluded Hendricks. The new SDK 1.2 for the PageWriter 2000 two-way pager and the PageWriter 2000X two-way wireless communications center, and the Integrators' Kit for CreataLink2 XT two-way data transceiver are built on Motorola's ReFLEX two-way messaging technology.
