VERIO AND VERISIGN TEAM TO AUTOMATE DIGITAL CERTIFICATE SERVICES FOR SECURE INTERNET COMMUNICATIONS PACT ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Jun 29, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Verio Inc. (Nasdaq: VRIO), the world's largest domain-based Web-hosting company, and VeriSign (Nasdaq: VRSN), the world's leading provider of Internet trust services, today announced an agreement to integrate VeriSign's digital certificates with Verio's comprehensive line of Web hosting, e-commerce and other Web-based business applications. Digital certificates provide electronic credentials that enable authenticated and encrypted communications and transactions between sites and individuals over the Internet. This agreement offers Verio customers an automated approach to deploying secure Web sites and other business applications such as e-commerce and e-mail.
Automating the digital certificate enrollment and lifecycle process using tools provided by VeriSign, Verio will integrate VeriSign's digital certificates into its Web hosting packages. In addition, the two companies plan to offer other trust services to Verio's customer base including secure e-mail products, security training, and certification programs. Under the terms of the agreement, Verio joins VeriSign's Secure Site ISP/Web Host program as a Premier Partner and names VeriSign its Preferred Provider of trust services for its rapidly growing business customer base.
