Wayne,
I accept what you say because I believe much of it myself. I'm not naive enough to believe that when it comes to money, the boys on Wall Street or in corporate America have my best interests at heart. Fine. That's the good ol' US of A, right? However, my guess is that this kind of stuff has been going on for as long as there has been capitalism and a Wall Street. Shameless spin, reckless promotion, etc. is pretty much part and parcel of this system. I don't particularly like it and I'd like for it to somehow be kinder and gentler to folks who are less knowledgeable, worldly, and intelligent than the ones doing the spin, promotion, etc. (BTW, I certainly include myself in that former group), but to look forward to "Tough love and economic violence fer all" with glee is a bit more than I can stomach. To believe that may be the only way to correct the perceived problems is fine. We all have our opinions and viewpoints, but why not hope for other solutions? Why not hope there's someone smarter than us who can prevent a situation like that? Trust me, I'm not some sort of Pollyanna, but does anyone think that situation, if it occurs, would be fun, even for people stocked with puts? If it happens, Wayne, it'll be a sad day for all of us and I don't revel in those types of thoughts.
