'ARC News' Reviews SWIM Software in July '99 Issue (A Geographic Information Systems Publication)
IRVINE, Calif., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Wordcraft Systems, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: WORC - news) announced that a comprehensive review of the company's Sewer/Water Infrastructure Management (SWIM(TM)) Pen-based field computer software/hardware system will be featured in the July issue of ARC News, a trade publication for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and related products. ARC News is produced by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), the ''Microsoft'' of GIS technology. ESRI, with over 150,000 customers worldwide, is also a business partner of Wordcraft Systems, Inc.

The SWIM software has been developed for the City of San Diego (Water and Metro Wastewater Departments) at an approximate cost of over $1.5 million. Since deployment in May 1997, San Diego has benefited substantially from the SWIM pen software/hardware system particularly in the following areas:

Map accuracy has been enhanced;
Work productivity has increased by over 80%;
Paper maps have been eliminated;
Duplicate data entry has been eliminated;
Erroneous crew dispatches have been reduced;
Field decision making has improved;
Internal information updates are much more current;
Environmental citations have been avoided.
The company expects to enter into a contract to supply its SWIM software/hardware system for implementation and integration at a major Water Utility in California by mid summer 1999. The contract will be for SWIM desk, SWIM pen software, consulting services and portable, pen-based computers for its maintenance vehicles. The complete software and hardware solution will be implemented and integrated into the utility's existing facilities over the next nine months at a total cost of approximately $1.0 million.

Last week, the company participated at the Annual American Water Works Association's, National Conference and Exposition in Chicago. This Exposition is the largest national trade show of its kind with over 14,000 attendees and over 1000 exhibitors. Various software operating systems and related hardware solutions and ''in field'' hardware were displayed targeting the Water Utilities industry. The SWIM product was extremely well received and as a result, excellent new relationships, with various Water Utilities' management personnel, established.
